Job Description

Atlanta Jewish Academy, a Modern Orthodox day school is seeking a Director of Student Activities (5th - 12th Grade). We offer a private Jewish Day School education to children from Early Childhood - 12th Grade at our beautiful, spacious 15 acre wooded Atlanta area campus. We are driven by a passion for academic excellence in General and Judaic Studies, Torah values, and a love for Israel and all Jewish people.


What is the goal of student activities?

  • Extend and supplement the Holistic Teaching & Learning that takes place in the formal classroom setting.
  • Teach and inspire our students through informal, non-traditional, explorations and experiences
  • Create shared communal opportunities and experiences
  • Foster relationships between teachers & students outside the classroom
  • Provide opportunities for students to have fun shine in unique and different ways


What types of programs do we want to run?

  • Shabbat Programming examples include:
    • Shabbatonim, Oneg
  • Chagim Related Programming examples include:
    • Selichot, Chanukah, Purim Night, Yom Hashoa, Yom HaZikaron, Yom HaAtzmaut, Yom Yerushalayim
  • Curricular Program Support examples include:
    • Day Trips
      • JCC / Machane Israeli, Freshman bonding, Six Flags, Bowling/Roller, Skating
    • Overnight Trips
      • MS Trips, HS Trips
  • Misc (Fun/Social/Chesed/Service) examples include:
    • Color War/BOTC, Lag Ba’Omer, STUCO Programming (Community Time, etc.), Grade chesed outings


What is most important for the DSA to be able to do?

  • Partnering with and empowering student leaders
    • Faculty Advisor for STUCO
    • Point person for HS grade reps
  • Manage logistics for all programs
    • Bookings, Transportation, Food, Technology
  • Coordinate between multiple divisions on shared programming
    • Program alignment, Resource sharing (space, technology, people)
  • Collaborate & Coordinate with the educational team
    • Collaborate with relevant ELT members to
      • Outline vision for programs
    • Manage/Collaborate with educators to 
      • Produce educational materials, clarify expectations, create timeline
  • Collaborate & Coordinate with facilities team (Franeen, Helen, Scott, Alexa, Jerrel) on all logistical aspects of programming including:
    • Space, Food, Technology
  • Communicate clearly and timely with faculty, students, & parents
